I’ve been quiet on this blog for quite some time.

Life events have gotten in the way, naturally, but it isn’t an excuse for not updating regularly.

I think I spend too much time in front of screens and now I’m triggered that it is a chore and not a source of healthy entertainment.

Long story short: in July 2023 I co-founded a community newspaper in the ashes of a Pulitzer Prize-winning regional powerhouse daily newspaper that had been acquired by Gatehouse (now Gannett) in 2016 and virtually gutted.

The paper’s editor doesn’t live in the state and has reportedly never set foot in this town. It has no writers. Contractors last 2-3 weeks then move on. Almost all the copy is from a Gannett publication from the state’s capital city.

It’s sad. The town has a rich history, and the current stories deserve to be told just as much as the older ones. That’s what I am trying to do — show the town’s residents that they matter, that they will not be forgotten.

It’s a lot of work on top of a full-time job which demands significant screen time.

It’s difficult but necessary.

So I do it.
